Reliability Equations
When the Equation page in the View Calculation Results window displays the analytical equation used to compute reliability, the reliability for the system is in italic type, and the reliability and unreliability for blocks is in regular type. For example, in the figure below, the subscript for the system, which has an identifier of Tablet PC, is in italic type. The subscripts for the five blocks, which have identifiers of Motherboard, Touchpanel, Memory Board, Hard Disk Assembly, and Battery, are in regular type.
Sample Equation
The symbols for reliability and unreliability are specified in the Data Definition file. The default for reliability is R, and the default for unreliability is F. The display of the equation requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later running on Windows NT 4.0 or later. As shown above, if the equation is long, line breaks can occur after spaces or mathematical operation signs.
If you view the Equation page after deleting a block in the diagram, the term for the deleted block has a Deleted Block subscript followed by the identifier of the deleted block's database record. In this case, you should recalculate the diagram so that an updated equation can be generated.
