Bind to style is present when you open the Visual Properties window from a block or state in a diagram. It indicates whether the state or block is tied to a style in a Style Library file. Whether this checkbox is selected for a newly inserted block or state depends on whether Blocks using this style are bound by default is selected in the visual properties for the style. While you can clear this checkbox for any block or state that you insert in a diagram, doing so removes the tie to the style. Any changes that you then make to the properties for this block or state apply only to it. Any property changes that you might later make to the style do not affect this particular block or state.

The style of the block. This property is not shown when the block’s Visual Properties window is opened from a Style Library file. Choices include all supplied block styles and all custom block styles that are enabled in the Style Library files for the module. When you insert a block of a selected style, its visual properties are based on the properties specified for that style in the module’s Style Library file. The default style for a block in a block diagram is Block. The default style for a block in a phase diagram is Phase Block. The default style for a state in a Markov diagram is State.
