General Page
The General page in the Calculation Properties window for a block displays general information about the block. The following table describes the properties on the General page. If the block is linked to another item in the System file, the properties containing the data retrieved from this item are display-only. In this case, you can modify only the following properties: Identifier, Library Identifier, Capacity, and Component ID.
Property
Description
Identifier
The unique identifier assigned to the block. While an identifier is assigned to a block when you insert it, you can change it to any unique value. The format for the assigned identifier is specified by RBD Block Identifier, which appears under Identifiers in the System file properties. For more information, see Identifiers System File Properties.
Library Identifier
The unique identifier assigned to a block that has been inserted or updated from an RBD Diagram Library file or Block Library file. This field is completed when you insert a library diagram or library block in the diagram. If you change this library identifier to some other library identifier and click Update, the selected block is replaced with a copy of the newly retrieved library block. For more information about using RBD Diagram or Block Library files, see RBD Support Files.
When clicked, the library identifier specified in the property above is used to update the data for the current block with data retrieved from the library block. For more information, see Updating the Data for a System File Block with Data for a Library Block.
Library of Retrieval
Indicates the RBD Diagram Library file or RBD Block Library file in which the diagram or block inserted from one of these support files is stored. This property is display-only. It is completed when you insert a library diagram or library block into the diagram.
General text properties
The properties under this heading provide qualitative information about the block.
Assembly
The name assigned to the block.
Part Number
The part number assigned to the block.
Reference Designator
The reference designator assigned to the block.
Description
A description of the block.
General properties
The properties under this heading provide quantitative information about the block.
Unit Cost
The cost of the component. The costs entered for all blocks in the diagram are summed to obtain the total cost of the system.
Capacity
The percent of capacity (0 to 100) that this block contributes to the operation of the system. The default is 100. For more information, see Capacity.
Phase properties
The single property under this heading is used to identify blocks across the multiple phases in a phase diagram.
Component ID
The unique identifier that identifies this block in different phases of a phase diagram. If you are not running phase calculations, you can ignore this field because it is meaningful only for phase diagrams. For more information, see Phase Diagrams. In a phase diagram, when a block in Phase 1 has the same component identifier as a block in Phase 2, these two blocks represent the same component. The component identifier that is automatically assigned to the block is specified by RBD Block Component Identifier, which appears under Identifiers in the System file properties. For more information, see Component Identifiers.
