Assigning Repair Resources to a Block
The Project’s RBD Repair Resources file stores the repair resources to assign to corrective maintenance and periodic maintenance tasks. When you use this support file, you can assign repair resources to any block that is not linked to either another System file item or another block diagram. For more information, see RBD Repair Resources Files.
1. In the RBD Table, select the diagram.
2. In the diagram, select the block.
3. Select RBD > Assign Repair Resources.
If this command is unavailable, either no repair resources are inserted in the RBD Repair Resource file or the block has a data link or a diagram link.
The Assign Repair Resources window opens. It provides fields for specifying repair resources for the block.
If None is shown for Corrective or for the Repair Resource column in the Maintenance table, no repair resource is selected. If you do not select a repair resource, this means that the initiation of the maintenance does not need to await the arrival or availability of a repair resource or team. It also means that an infinite number of repair resources exist for performing this maintenance and that the cost of using these resources is zero.
4. For Corrective, select the repair resource to perform the corrective maintenance.
The availability of this field depends on whether Component is Repairable or Replaceable is selected on the Corrective Maintenance page in the block’s Calculation Properties window.
5. For each task in the Maintenance task table, for Repair Resource, select the repair resource to perform the periodic maintenance.
The table lists each task that has been inserted on the Maintenance page in the block’s Calculation Properties window.
6. To assign repair resources to another block, select it in the diagram and then repeat steps 4 and 5 above.
7. When finished assigning repair resources, close the Assign Repair Resources window by clicking the X in the upper right corner of the window.
Any changes you make in the Assign Repair Resources window are saved to the Calculation Properties windows for the blocks and the Maintenance Properties windows for the tasks.

While the Assign Repair Resources window provides the most efficient way to assign repair resources to blocks, in the Calculation Properties window for the block, you can also use the Repair Resource field on the Corrective Maintenance page to assign a repair resource for corrective maintenance. Then, on the Maintenance page, you can select an inserted task and click Edit Task to assign a repair resource to the task in its Maintenance Properties window. For more information, see Block Calculation Properties and Maintenance Properties.
