Logistics Model Versus Inherent Model
The following table describes the two calculation models that are used to take process grade factors into account. Descriptions of process grade factors appear in Process Grade Factors and Pi Factor Multipliers.
Model
Description
Logistics
Takes into account all process grade factors, including Induced (Pi I) and Cannot Duplicate/No Defect Found (Pi N), so that the external conditions affecting the actual reliability in the field are considered.
The equation for the Logistics model is:
Pi P * Pi IM * Pi E + Pi D * Pi G + Pi M * Pi IM * Pi E * Pi G + Pi S * Pi G +Pi I + Pi N + Pi W
Inherent
Takes into account all process grades factors but Induced (Pi I) and Cannot Duplicate/No Defect Found (Pi N) so that the external conditions affecting the actual reliability in the field are not considered.
The equation for the Inherent model is:
Pi P * Pi IM * Pi E + Pi D * Pi G + Pi M * Pi IM * Pi E * Pi G + Pi S * Pi G + Pi W
