Group Data Pane
The Group Data pane displays properties for the group selected in the Maintainability Groups Definition pane. The following table describes the properties in this pane.
Property
Description
Isolation to a single replaceable item
Indicates whether the fault or failure that occurred can be isolated to one particular replaceable item (RI). When this checkbox is selected (default), it can be isolated to one RI. Consequently, no other properties are available. When it is cleared, it cannot be isolated to one RI. Other properties become available so that additional data can be supplied.
Group replacement philosophy
Two choices are available for the group replacement philosophy:
Group. When selected (default), it is assumed that an entire group of RIs is replaced when the repair is made.
Iterative. When selected, it is assumed that an attempt is made to replace only the RI that is malfunctioning. When this choice is selected, Reassembly required for checkout becomes available.
Access to removable items
Two choices are available for describing access to the removable item:
Single. When selected (default), the technician making the repair must remove only the RI that is malfunctioning to replace it.
Multiple. When selected, the technician making the repair must remove multiple items to remove and replace the RI that is malfunctioning.
Reassembly required for checkout
Indicates whether the item being replaced can be tested for proper functionality without reassembling other RIs in the group. This checkbox is available only when Iterative is selected for Group replacement philosophy. When this checkbox is cleared (default), the item can be tested without reassembling other RIs in the group. When this checkbox is selected, all RIs in the group must be reassembled to confirm that the item has been repaired successfully.
Fault isolation ambiguity (S)
Two choices are available for defining the fault isolation ambiguity (S) factor for the group:
User defined. When selected (default), the S factor is a user-defined value that you enter for Factor, which is made available to the right.
Estimated (per fault isolation requirements below). When selected, the Fault isolation requirements area is made available so that you can specify the values to use to calculate the S factor.
Fault isolation requirements
The values to use to calculate the S factor are entered in the estimation table. This area contains information only when Estimated is selected for the fault isolation ambiguity. For more information, see Fault Isolation Requirements.
