Specifying the Results to Show in Gate and Event Text Boxes on the Diagram
Once you run FTA calculations as described in Calculating FTA Results, in the fault tree diagram, a text box is shown on each gate and event symbol. This text box can contain either one or two calculation results for the primary time point that you specified when you performed FTA calculations. You indicate the results to show for each gate or event type in the Project’s FTA Style file. By default, the Unavailability result, such as Q: 0.0392493, is shown.
1. Open the Project’s FTA Style file.
2. For Style type in the FTA Styles pane, select Gate and Event Styles. The styles for all gates and event types are shown in the table.
3. For each gate or event for which to specify the results to show, do the following:
a. In the FTA Styles pane, select the style for the gate or event.
b. In the FTA Style Definition pane, click Edit Style. The FTA Figures Style window opens for the selected gate or event.
The visual properties for the style are basically the same as those for the gate or event itself. For more information, see Fault Tree Object Visual Properties.
c. On the Results Display page, select one or two of the three checkboxes available for selecting the results to display. The other checkboxes on this page affect the format and applicability of your changes. For more information, see Results Display Page.
d. When finished, click OK. Your changes are saved and the display in the Preview area in the FTA Definition pane is updated.
4. When finished indicating the results to show, click the X to close the file.

You can customize the prompts that appear in front of the results in the Project’s Data Definition file. When you select FTA Display Labels as the table type, you can specify a custom user prompt for any or all fault tree result fields. For example, instead of using Q as the prompt for the Unavailability result, you can type Unavail for User Prompt so that it is used instead. For more information, see Customizing a Field Prompt.
