Inserting an Effect
For each failure mode in the FMEA Worksheet table, effect data is either supplied at the mode level (default) or at a separate effect level, depending on the FMEA data structure. If an effect is a child of a cause, when you insert the cause, the initial effect for the cause is inserted. However, you can insert any number of additional child effects for this cause.
1. In the FMEA Worksheet table, select the mode for which you want to insert an additional effect.
2. If the effect to add is to be the child of a cause, select the appropriate cause.
3. Insert an effect using one of the following methods:
Select Insert > Effect.
Right-click the item in the FMEA Worksheet table and select Insert Effect.
In the title bar of the FMEA Worksheet table, or on the Insert FMEA Items toolbar, click the button for inserting a new effect.
The effect is inserted along with all child data levels specified by the Project’s FMEA Design file.
4. Complete the fields for the effect as well as fields for any child data level.
Once effect level fields are completed, if causes are a child data level of an effect, you can insert additional causes. For more information, see Inserting a Cause.
