FMEA Modes Parts
The FMEA Modes classification supports the part types defined in FMEA Modes Library files. When FMEA Modes is selected for Part Classification, the choices for Category are the FMEA standards that provide failure modes for various part types:
FMD
MIL-HDBK-338 Rel D
NPRD
RADC-TR-84-244
Because the FMD91 and FMD97 Modes files contain many duplicate part types, the subcategory lists for these files are combined to form one FMD category. The part types for the RADC-TR-84-244 and RADC-TR-844-244 4-A Modes files are also combined to form one RADC category.
When one of the possible FMEA Modes categories is selected, the choices for Subcategory are all part subcategories that are used for part types supported by that FMEA Modes Library file. For example, if FMEA Modes/FMD is the classification/category, Subcategory choices include many different part types. If FMEA Modes/RADC-TR-84-244 is the classification/category, Subcategory choices include only a handful of part types.
You cannot add new category and subcategory values for a part with a FMEA Modes classification. New categories and subcategories can be added only for a part with a User-Defined classification. When a part with a FMEA Modes classification is used in the Prediction module, it behaves as a user-defined part. For more information, see User-Defined Parts.
