Using Report Binder Files to Generate Multiple Reports
Report Binder files generate single, comprehensive reports from multiple Report Design files. These files are available for selection anywhere a Report Design file can be selected. When you select a Report Design file, the Report Properties window opens, displaying pages on which to supply parameters for record, filter, and/or diagram selections. For more information, see Report Properties.
You can create a Report Binder file using any standard file creation method. You then insert Report Design files for the multiple reports you want to generate by either clicking tool buttons or selecting menu commands.
The top report determines the module with which the Report Binder file is associated. For instance, if the top report is for the FRACAS Incidents table, the Report Binder file is considered to be a FRACAS report.
Once the top report is inserted, you can insert any number of sibling and child reports. Choices for child tables are limited to only those that are valid. You can reorder reports using the drag-and-drop technique. You can also nest reports. When reports are nested, one record prints for the main-level report; then, all related records print for the nested report. This process repeats until all records for the main report are printed.
Additionally, you can right-click a report and select commands for cutting, copying, pasting, or deleting it. You can even copy and paste a report multiple times, possibly because you want to insert it at different levels in the tree and/or specify different parameter overrides.
In the File Properties window for the Report Binder file, General > Reset page number for each top report indicates whether pages for all reports are numbered consecutively or whether page numbering starts anew for each report. Selecting View > File Properties opens this window. For more information, see General Support File Properties.
