Table Format File Overview
When a Project is created, Table Format files, are also created. These files specify the data fields to show in System file tables. To customize tables, you can modify the default files or create and enable custom ones. For example, you might want to create and enable different Table Format files for each System file in the Project. If you are running the Enterprise Edition, you might want to create and enable different Table Format files for each user group so that each group has its own set of table views.
In a Table Format file, the top pane displays the fields to show in the table, and the bottom pane displays properties for displaying the active field as a column in the table.
When you insert a record in the upper pane, the default for Table Type is the System file table that the file configures. If inserting fields from foreign tables is permitted, multiple tables are available for selection. For more information, see Foreign Tables. In the Data Fields column, any custom prompts assigned to fields in the Project’s Data Definition file are shown. In the lower pane, you define properties for displaying the active field as a table column. For more information, see Configuring a Table Format File.
*
If text color and/or background color is not specified here but rather in the Options window, messages are shown to the right of the properties explaining this. For the FMEA Worksheet table, color settings specified for cells override colors specified in its Table Format file.
If desired, you can show additional property settings as display-only columns in the upper pane. For more information, see Displaying Additional Columns in the Table Format Pane.
The following table lists the Table Format files for all System file tables that you can configure. It also lists the modules that use these tables. The tables available depend on the modules licensed and tables turned on in the Table Settings pane in the Project Properties window. The names shown in this list are the default plural names for tables in a newly created Project. They are ordered as they are listed in the window for opening Table Format files when all modules are licensed and in use. If custom names are assigned to tables, the custom plural table names are shown. For more information, see Specifying Table Settings.
