Start Page Window
The Start Page window is the startup center for Windchill Risk and Reliability. You see this window when the desktop starts. The appearance and number of pages in this window vary, depending on the Edition.
In the Team Edition, you see only a default page.
In the Enterprise Edition, you might see a global page that your system administrator has assigned to your user group, a default page, and any number of custom pages that you have created for personal use.
The controls shown on a default page also depend on the Edition. Descriptions follow for all controls that can appear on the supplied default page.
Recent Files — Lists as many as the last 10 files that you viewed. By default, only System files are shown. However, if you want this control to list other types of files, you can clear General > Save only System files in the recent files list in the Options window. For more information, see General User Options. To quickly open a file, you click the file name. During startup, the list is checked to ensure that all files referenced still exist. If a file is not found, it is removed from the list before the page is shown.
Announcements — Displays announcements posted by users, providing a great mechanism for team communication. Each announcement includes a title, the name of the person posting the announcement, and the announcement itself. For announcements that are marked as high priority, titles appear in red. If you have the proper permissions, you can post announcements.
Links — Displays links for quick and easy access to Internet resources. This control initially contains links for opening the application’s Getting Started Guide, going to the Windchill Risk and Reliability page on the PTC website, and going to the eSupport portal on the PTC website. If you have an Internet resource you use frequently, you can set up a link to it. When you click the link, your browser starts and opens the specified web address in a new window. An Internet connection is required to use links successfully.
Workflow — Displays all outstanding workflow items that are assigned to you (Enterprise Edition only). When you click an item, the email message associated with the item opens. When you click the icon for the associated table type, the corresponding System file opens, and the corresponding record is selected.
Alerts — Displays all alerts that have been sent to you (Enterprise Edition only). When you click an alert, the email message associated with the alert opens. When you click the icon for the associated table type, the corresponding System file opens, and the associated data is shown.
By default, all controls are expanded. However, you can collapse and expand any control by clicking the arrow button in the corner of its title bar. In the Enterprise Edition, the arrow button is on the left. In the Team Edition, the arrow button is on the right. To switch between collapsing and expanding a control, you click this arrow button.
In the upper right corner of the Start Page window, a menu bar provides some or all of the commands described in the following table, depending on the Edition.
