Parameter Descriptions
The following table describes the parameters that you can enter for Run for a task that is to perform a scheduled import or export. For Team files, you must include the extensions for file names. For more information, see Scheduling Automatic Imports and Exports.
Parameter
Description
TEMPLATE_FILE_NAME
The name of the Import/Export Template file. For a Team file, the extension is RIX.
-user:USERNAME -pass:PASSWORD
The user name and password for the Windchill Risk and Reliability account to use when performing the import or export. These parameters are omitted from the Team Edition because system administration and security functions are not available. In the Enterprise Edition, you must specify the user name and password for an account with the importing and exporting permission. Although this account must have file permissions for the file specified in the Import/Export Template file, it should have few if any other function permissions. Also, this user can belong to only one user group, which should probably have permission to see other groups’ records. For more information, see the guide or help for the Administrator application.
-project:PROJECT_NAME
The name of the Project that contains the Import/Export Template file. For a Team Project file, the extension is RSN.
-file:FILE_NAME
Allows you to specify the file into which to import or export data. The extensions for a Team file is shown in its File Properties window.
-type:FILE_TYPE
Allows you to specify the file type into which to import or export data. This parameter is not required for a System file. However, it is required for List Library, Prediction Parts Library, and FRACAS Lookup Library Table files, which are the other supported file types. The parameters to use for each of these file types follow: ListLibrary, PartsLibrary, System, and LookupTable. These parameters do not contain spaces.
All parameters work with spaces. However, when spaces are present, you must place the parameter within quotes. Be careful that you do not place the flag that precedes the parameter (such as -user:) within quotes. You wrap only the parameter itself in quotes. For example, -user:“Username” is correct, but “-user:Username” is incorrect.
Below is an example of the text that is likely to appear on the command line for the import of data into a Team System file:
“C:\Program Files(x86)\PTC\Windchill Risk and Reliability 12.0.0.0\Windchill Risk and Reliability\WindchillRiskAndReliability.ImportExport.exe” “DailyImport.rix” -project:“Project 1.rsn” -file:“Project 1.rfp” -type:System
