Inserting and Positioning a Control
You can insert controls in a Form Design file using the commands on the Insert menu or buttons on the Form Design Controls toolbar. You can also insert data fields using the Data Fields Toolbar. For more information, see Data Fields Toolbar.
1. If the Form Design file is not already open, then open it.
2. To insert a control using the commands on the Insert menu or buttons on the Form Design Controls toolbar, do one of the following:
Select Insert and then the command for the control.
On the Form Design Controls toolbar, click the button for the control.

When the mouse cursor is positioned in the form, the cursor style changes to allow for easy insertion of the control.

3. Position the cursor where you want the top left corner of the control located.
4. Click and drag the box that is being drawn to where you want the bottom right corner of the control located.
5. Release the mouse button. The Form Designer places the control within the bounding box.
Size and position information for the control is shown in the lower left corner of the window. The first set of numbers indicates the position of the selected control within the form, and the second set of numbers indicates its size in dialog units.

6. To adjust the placement of the control, do any or all of the following:
Use the standard Microsoft drag-and-drop technique to move the control to an approximate location.
To make minor adjustments to its position, ensure that your Num Lock key is not pressed; then, click the control and use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move it in the desired direction.
To align or adjust the position of several controls, use the many available commands on the Layout menu or buttons on the Layout toolbar. For more information, see Format/Layout Commands.
7. Specify the properties for the control. For more information, see Viewing and Modifying Form Control Properties.
8. When finished, close the file.
