‘Filter by’ Commands
In addition to building and applying custom filters to reduce the number of records shown in a table, you can use built-in filters known as Filter by commands. For example, when the FRACAS Incidents table is selected, the following Filter by commands can be available on the Filter menu:
Filter by System Tree Item Selection
Filter by System Tree Item Branch
Filter by Configuration Selection
Filter by Problem Selection
*
The singular table names are used in Filter by commands. The above command names assume that default table names are in use. You can assign custom names to tables in the Table Settings pane in the Project Properties window. For more information, see Specifying Table Settings.
Suppose your FRACAS Incidents table contains 10,000 records. When you right-click in this table, you can select Filter by System Tree Item Selection and then select a particular item in the System Tree Items table. To further reduce the number of records shown in this table, you might apply a filter to limit records to only those entered by you.
When a table contains hundreds or even thousands of records, you can use Filter by commands to control which records to show in the table or on associated forms. Filter by commands are available on the Filter menu when they can be applied to the active table. Filter by commands limit the records shown in the table to only those associated with what is selected for its display field. For more information, see Display Fields.
The following table describes the records that are shown when a Filter by command is selected (on) and when it is cleared (off). Selecting a Filter by command switches between turning it on and off. A checkmark appears to the left of the command when it is on. All Filter by commands are listed in alphabetical order below.
Filter by Command (Filters Menu)
Table Applicability
Selected (On)
Cleared (0ff)
Filter by Attribute Selection
FMEA Control Plans and FMEA DVPs
When selected, the records shown are limited to those associated with the active attribute in the Global Attributes table. For this command and table to be available, the System file must be created from a Windchill product. Additionally, you must have a Windchill integration license for CTQ (critical to quality) characteristic management.
When cleared, all records are shown, regardless of the global attributes with which they are associated.

This command can be used in conjunction with the Filter by FMEA Tree Item Selection command or the Filter by FMEA Worksheet Selection command.
Filter by Configuration Selection
FRACAS Incidents and FRACAS Operating Times
When selected, the records shown are limited to those associated with the active configuration in the Configurations table.
When cleared, all records are shown, regardless of the configuration with which they are associated.
*
This command can be used in conjunction with the Filter by System Tree Item Branch command or Filter by System Tree Item Selection command.
Filter by FMEA Tree Item Selection
FMEA Worksheet, FMEA Control Plans, and FMEA DVPs
When selected, the records shown are limited to those associated with the active FMEA tree item.
When cleared, all records are shown, regardless of the FMEA tree item with which they are associated.

When the FMEA Worksheet, FMEA Control Plans, or FMEA DVPs table is active, a command with this text is shown. However, these commands are independent, meaning that separate settings are saved for each table. The FMEA Control Plans and FMEA DVPs tables are shown only if they are turned on in the Table Settings pane in the Project Properties window. For these two tables, this command can be used in conjunction with the Filter by FMEA Worksheet Selection command.
Filter by FMEA Worksheet Selection
FMEA Control Plans and FMEA DVPs
When selected, the records shown are limited to those associated with the active FMEA Worksheet record.
When cleared, all records are shown, regardless of the FMEA Worksheet record with which they are associated.
*
This command can be used in conjunction with the Filter by FMEA Tree Selection command.
Filter by FRACAS Incident Selection
FRACAS Maintenance Logs
When selected, the records shown are limited to those associated with the active incident in the FRACAS Incidents table.
When cleared, all records are shown, regardless of the incident with which they are associated.
Filter by Problem Selection
FRACAS Incidents
When selected, the records shown are limited to those associated with the active problem in the Problems table.
When cleared, all records are shown, regardless of the problem with which they are associated (unless the Filter by System Tree Item Selection command or Filter by System Tree Branch command is selected).
*
This command is mutually exclusive of the other Filter by commands that apply to the FRACAS Incidents table.
Filter by Problem Selection
FRACAS Incidents
When selected, the records shown are limited to those associated with the active system tree item and all of its children. The maximum number of system tree items that can be considered is 100.
When cleared, all records are shown, regardless of the system tree item with which they are associated (unless the Filter by Problem Selection command or the Filter by System Tree Item Selection command is selected).
Filter by System Tree Item Branch
FRACAS Incidents and Parts Table
When selected, the records shown are limited to those associated with the active system tree item.
When cleared, all records are shown, regardless of the system tree item with which they are associated (unless the Filter by System Tree Item Branch command or Filter by Problem Selection command is selected).
When one or more Filter by commands is on, a filter icon is shown in the upper corner of the table to which it is applied. If you place the mouse cursor over this icon, the tooltip indicates all filter criteria currently applied.
If one or more Filter by commands and a filter from a Filter file are applied, only the records that meet the filter criteria for all of these filters are shown in the table. In this case, the tooltip indicates the criteria for all filters applied.
