Data Series Properties
When Data Series is the page selected in the Graph Properties window, you can specify independent properties for each data series in a graph that has multiple data series. Each data series in the graph is listed as a row in the table. Column descriptions follow.
Column
Description
Data Series
The row number, beginning with 1.
Name
The label of the data series, which is shown in the legend if visible. For more information, see Legend Properties. If desired, you can modify the name in this column. The legend would then display the modified name.
Y Axis
Specifies whether to plot the data series against the primary Y axis or the secondary Y axis. By default, Primary is selected for all rows.
Style
The chart type for the selected data series. By default, Same settings as General page is initially selected for all rows. You cannot change the chart style for the first data series in row 1. The first data series always uses the chart type specified on the General page. For the data series in other rows, you can modify the chart type.
To modify the style for a data series:
1. Click in the Style column for the data series. A browse button becomes available.
2. Click the browse button. The Series Style window opens.
Initially, Use style settings from General page is selected.
3. Clear this checkbox so that the properties in this window become available.
4. For Chart type, select the type of chart that you want to apply to the data series.
5. Select Show data points labels if you want to show labels for data point values directly on the graph.
6. If data points are to be shown, complete the Relative position, Font, and Number of decimals properties in the same manner as on the Data Point Labels page. For more information, see Data Point Labels Properties.
*
Pie and donut graph styles cannot be combined with other graph styles. This means that they are not available when selecting a different chart type for a data series. If a pie or donut chart type is selected on the General page, the Y Axis and Style columns are unavailable for all rows on the Data Series page. Additionally, Y Axis is set to Primary for all rows.
