Data Definition File Overview
When a Project is created, its Data Definition file is also created. It is a singular support file, which means that only one occurrence of this file type can exist in the Project. The Data Definition file provides for viewing and modifying the prompts, field configuration settings, and dependent lists for all System files in the Project.
The Data Definition file does not support viewing and modifying prompts, field properties, and dependent lists for tables in the following modules: Event Tree, LCC, and Markov. For descriptions of all table types that you can select at the top of the Data Definition file, see Supported Table Types.
For the FTA, Markov, and RBD modules, special table types exist with Display Labels in their names. These special tables provide for customizing the prompts for the labels that can be shown in the text boxes of diagram objects.
For the Maintainability module, a special Maintainability Definition table exists that provides for viewing and modifying prompts, field configuration settings, and dependent lists for a few key fields.
