Inserting an LDAP Group
The LDAP Group area is available only after you have established a connection to at least one LDAP server. You insert an LDAP group in this area using an Insert command.
1. If the LDAP Groups area is not active, click the LDAP Groups icon in the shortcut bar.
In this area, the Active Directories Groups pane displays the LDAP groups that have already been inserted.
2. To open the Insert LDAP Group window, do one of the following:
Click < Click here to insert a new record >.
Right-click and select Insert Group.
Select Insert > Group.
The Insert LDAP Group window is almost identical to the Insert LDAP User window. For more information, see Insert LDAP Group and Insert LDAP User Windows.
3. For Name, enter the name of the group for which to search. This field supports the use of the * wildcard character.
4. In the list for LDAP directory server, select the server to search. The default is < All >. When it is selected, all servers that you have configured connections to are searched.
5. Click Search. If the search takes more than a second, a window opens, indicating the progress made.
If you wanted to cancel the search, in this window, you would click Stop. When a window for confirming that the search be canceled opened, you would click Yes. This does not cancel the search request on the LDAP server. It stops the search from the Windchill Risk and Reliability end, causing it to ignore any results obtained from the search.
When a search finishes, results display in the table. The first column shows the names of the groups found, and the second column shows the LDAP servers in which these groups were found. You can click Select All or Clear All to quickly select or clear the selection of all rows. The groups in selected rows are added when you click Insert.
6. Select the rows for the groups to insert and click Insert. You are returned to the LDAP Groups area, where these LDAP groups are inserted.
If any of the groups are already inserted, a window opens, indicating the groups that were not added because they already existed. In this case, click OK to acknowledge this message.
7. In the Permissions pane, specify permissions for all newly inserted LDAP groups. For more information, see Specifying Group Permissions.
8. In the Licensed Modules pane, specify which licenses the newly inserted LDAP groups can acquire. For more information, see Specifying Which Licenses a Group Can Acquire.
9. If you want to assign a global Start page to the group, in the Start Page pane, specify which page the group is to see upon startup of the desktop application. The global Start page that you assign to the group is always the first one listed in the Start Pages window.
