Classification Attributes
Classification attributes are reusable attributes. A reusable attribute represents a unique system-wide property for which an object instance can have a value.
For information on creating reusable attributes through the Type and Attribute Manager utility, see Managing Reusable Attributes.
You can also create a new reusable attribute when adding an attribute to a node. For more information, see Add Classification Attributes.
Classification attributes for a node are defined under the Attributes tab:
For information on defining the attribute layout, see Node Layout and Editing an Attribute Group.
Attributes Table
The Attributes table displays the list of attributes for the node. Use the table view menu to filter which attributes are displayed:
All attributes
Attributes assigned to this class only
Attributes inherited from parent
The columns in the Attributes table can be sorted by clicking the column header.
*
The node must be in edit mode before you can add, remove, or modify attributes. For more information, see Modify Classification Nodes.
Click the attribute name or the information icon to open the attribute information panel. From here, you can view and define attribute properties, set default values, and define attribute constraints. For more information, see Attribute Information Pane.
The following actions are available from the table toolbar:
Add an existing reusable attribute, or create a reusable attribute to add.
For more information, see Add Classification Attributes.
Remove the attribute from the node. A confirmation message appears.
When an attribute is removed, any existing business data is lost. For example, if you have already created a classified part against the node that has defined a value for that attribute, the attribute and value is removed from the part data.
*
Attributes inherited from a parent node cannot be removed.
If you remove an attribute from a branch node, it is also removed from any child node that has inherited the attribute.
Gather all attributes that have been specifically defined on child nodes and add them to the parent node.
When the gathered attributes are added to the parent node, they are inherited by every child node under the parent node.
The action is enabled on branch nodes. For more information, see Gathering Common Attributes.
Add the attribute to the parent node. The attribute is then inherited by every child node under the parent node.
For more information, see Moving an Attribute to a Parent Node.
