Importing Shared Teams
You can import an exported team into another organization context or another
Windchill system. Before using the import shared team icon
to import shared teams, create the file that contains the shared team information by
exporting an existing shared team. The file must be either a ZIP or JAR file. It must contain an XML file for each shared team that you want to import and a TXT file that lists the XML files to be used in the import. Including placeholder email addresses for shared team members is not supported when exporting and importing shared teams.
To import one or more shared teams, use the following steps:
1. Navigate to the > page.
The Import Shared Team window opens.
3. In the File field, enter the file path of the ZIP or JAR file that contains the shared teams you want to import.
or
Click Browse to open a folder browser and navigate to the ZIP or JAR file.
4. Click OK.
| The imported shared team cannot have the same name as a shared team that already exists in the target organization. If a shared team with the same name already exists, the import will not succeed. |
The contents of the XML files in the file that is uploaded are used to create the shared teams, which then appear as rows in the Shared Teams table. The imported shared team includes any roles you added to the shared team prior to export. The imported shared team does not have any of the access control policies that were established for the original shared team.
If an error occurs while processing the import file, the error is presented and none of the shared teams contained in the imported file are created. For example, if one of the XML files contains a shared team with the same name as an existing shared team, the import fails. In this case, you can edit the XML file to change the shared team name, and then import the team again.
The system does not verify that the members of an imported shared team exist in Windchill nor does it determine if you can view the members of the shared team being created. Ensure that appropriate participants are listed in the XML files that you import.
Any roles imported that are not defined in the organization are considered custom roles. See
Adding Roles.
