Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software provides an integrated environment to manage migrated documents from Windchill 9.x and 10.1x to Windchill 10.2.

A typical use scenario is migrating Windchill 9.x documents with IBM Rational ClearCase attachment content to Windchill 10.2 that includes Windchill Integrations for Embedded Software with IBM Rational ClearCase.

In the conversion process, a document with only primary source content converts to an updated document with primary source content, as in the Windchill 9.x system.

For example, if migrating a document with a local file content, like an MS Word document, the migrated document converts to an updated document with MS Word primary source content, as in the originating Windchill 9.x system.

In the conversion process, a document with IBM Rational ClearCase primary source content becomes two Windchill objects: (1) an updated document and (2) a related software document. Documents in Windchill 10.2 cannot have IBM Rational ClearCase primary source content.

The document information includes all of the originating document information from the Windchill 9.x system, except for the IBM Rational ClearCase primary source information.

The IBM Rational ClearCase primary source content is converted to a related software document of which the name and other information is generated from the updated document. For example, IBM Rational ClearCase primary source content from the migrated document converts to a related software document with IBM Rational ClearCase primary source content.

In the conversion process, a document with attachment content converts to an updated document in Windchill 10.2. The updated document includes all of the originating document information from the Windchill 9.x system.

In the conversion process, a document with IBM Rational ClearCase attachment content becomes two Windchill objects: (1) an updated document and (2) a related software document. Documents in Windchill 10.2 cannot have IBM Rational ClearCase attachments.

The document information includes all of the originating document information from the Windchill 9.x system, except for the IBM Rational ClearCase attachment information.

The IBM Rational ClearCase attachment information is converted to a related software document of which the name and other information is generated from the updated document. For example, IBM Rational ClearCase attachment content from the migrated document converts to a related software document. If there was no migrated primary source content, one of the IBM Rational ClearCase attachments converts to the IBM Rational ClearCase primary source content in the related software document. Remaining IBM Rational ClearCase attachments convert to IBM Rational ClearCase attachments in the related software document.

Once you have located the document in the Folders table, click the document information page to access the Details, Structure, Related Objects, Changes, History, Where Used, and Traceability tabs. Click New Tab and Customize to add or remove available tab tables.

For migrated documents with non- IBM Rational ClearCase primary source or attachment content, click the document information page Content tab to access the content in the Primary Content and Attachments tables.

For migrated documents with IBM Rational ClearCase attachment content, click the document information page Related Objects tab to access the related software document in the References Documents table.
