Sourcing Rules
A Sourcing Administrator can use sourcing rules to assign the sourcing status to a set of parts that meet specific criteria, such as a particular supplier, a sourcing context, or a node in the classification structure.
The rules accomplish the following:
Sourcing rules set the default sourcing status for new AML/AVL entries that meet the rule's criteria.
By executing the sourcing rules, you can change the current sourcing status for a defined set of existing supplier parts.
If Classification is installed, the sourcing rule allows you to specify the classification node. If Classification is not installed, you cannot include classification in the rule.
To view the rules, click in the Navigator, and select Rules. The Sourcing Rules table lists existing rules with their current status.
The sourcing rules set the sourcing status of supplier parts (which can be changed later) when you create an AML/AVL.
Status of Sourcing Rules
The status of a sourcing rule can be one of the following:
Active– The rule is enabled and is applied to all new entries to the AML/AVL that meet the rule's criteria.
Disabled– The rule has been disabled and is not being applied.
Executing– The rule is being applied to new and existing parts that meet the rule's criteria.
