Allocating Parts to an Operation and Adding Them to the BOM
To simultaneously add a part to the BOM and then allocate that part to an operation, use the following procedure:

To allocate a part the associated assembly must be checked out.
1. From the navigation pane select the Operation for which the part needs to be allocated.
2. Select the Part Allocation tab. The system displays the BOM Allocated Parts table.
3. Click the add icon . The Search window opens.
4. Use the search window to filter your search query.
5. Click Search. The results of the search are returned at the bottom of the window.
6. Select the desired object and click OK.

You can also add a part to an operation by copying it from one location, and pasting it in the desired operation location.
Click the consume from upstream BOM icon to add the equivalent part to the operation. This also creates an equivalent occurrence link and an equivalent link. The type of allocation is automatically set to Consumed.
7. Quantify the number of parts to add, and click OK.

The allocated part is added to the BOM.
