3. If you are creating a new UDI from a part, do one of the following:
If the part appears in the Create UDI for table, select the part from which to create the UDI submission.
If the part does not appear in the Create UDI for table, do the following:
1. Under Create UDI for, click the add part icon .
2. In the Find Part(s) window, search for the part. You can use asterisks to perform a wildcard search.
3. Select the part from which you want to create the UDI.
4. Click OK.
*
If you know the part number or name, you can type three or more letters in the Add by Number or Add by Name field, and then select a part from the list.
You can create multiple UDIs at the same time by adding several parts to the Create UDI for table. All these UDIs use the same template for the default values.
You can link the UDI to a part later using the Link to Part function. For instructions, see Linking UDIs to a Part.
4. In the New UDI window, click OK. The created UDI appears under Folder Contents in the Creation state. For FDA UDI submission object type, the system creates UDI Submission Creation task in the My Tasks table for each part you selected. Similarly, for UDI Super Set object type, the system creates UDI Super Set Creation task in the My Tasks table for each part you selected.
5. To update the FDA UDI information, right-click the UDI Submission Creation task and select Edit UDI. Complete the information in the Edit UDI window. Similarly, to update the UDI Super Set information, right-click the UDI Super Set Creation task and select Edit UDI. For more information, see Completing the FDA UDI Submission Form and Completing the UDI Super Set Form.
6. Click Finish to move the UDI to the approval step.
*
If the UDI is created using a subtype of the parent UDI submission type, the system does not display the user-defined attributes in the UDI Submission Creation Task and UDI Submission Creation Taskwindow. To use and display the user-defined attributes, add them in the parent type instead of the subtype.
