Using the Server Management Utility
You use the Server Management utility to register and manage Windchill servers.
Select Tools > Server Management to access the Server Management utility in Windchill Workgroup Manager. Tto access the Server Management utility from your CAD application, select PTC Windchill > Server Management.
When managing servers and workspaces, Windchill automatically displays all virtual workspaces for your site or organization in the Server Management utility. To learn more about virtual workspaces, see “Displaying or Hiding Virtual Workspaces in the Server Management Utility” in the Administration section of your CAD Application documentation.
Server Management Menu
This section describes the menu options available in the Server Management utility window.

Save Setting As
Opens the Save Server Management Settings File window, and allows you to save a Server Configuration File (FLD) to a common folder, or server workspace.
Server
Register New Server
Allows you to register a new Windchill server.
Set as Primary Server
Sets the selected server and workspace as your primary work areas.
Edit
Modifies the name and location of the selected server.
Delete
Removes the selected server.
Workspace
New
Creates a new workspace on the primary server.
Activate
Activates a workspace on a secondary server, or activates a workspace and sets it as primary.
Delete
Deletes the selected workspace from the selected server.
Server Management Tabs
This section describes the menu tabs available in the Server Management utility window.
Tab
Description
Servers
Allows you to view and manage individual servers. This tab displays registered servers and lists their online/offline status. It also lists a <NO SERVER> item which, when set as primary, disables all PDM actions in the CAD application File menu. For details on available menu options on this tab, see the Server Tab table.
Cache
Allows you to check how much disk space is being used by the workspace local directory cache, per server or per workspace. It also allows you to clear the cache.
Server Tab
This section describes the menu options available on the Servers tab. To access these options, right-click a server (in the Servers area) or a workspace (in the Server Active Workspace area).

Register New Server
Displays the Register New Server window and allows you to register a new server by providing a server name and its URL location.
Set as Primary Server
Assigns primary server status to the server (if not currently assigned).
Edit
Displays the Server Property window and allows you to modify the name or the URL location of the server.
Delete
Removes the server from the Server list.
Server Active Workspace
New
Allows you to create a new workspace on the primary server.
Activate
Activates a workspace on a secondary server, or activates a workspace and assigns its server primary status (making it the primary active workspace).
Delete
Removes the workspace from the Workspace list.
