Locking and Unlocking Objects in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling
You can lock an object either from an active workspace in Windchill Workgroup Manager or the CAD application. For information about locking and unlocking an object in Windchill Workgroup Manager, see Locking and Unlocking Objects in the Workspace.
*
You cannot lock or unlock a newly created object (). You need to check in the object before you can lock it.
If you select an object in the structure browser and save it to workspace, you cannot lock that object.
Locking Objects in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling
To lock a workspace object:
1. Select one or more checked-in workspace objects (modified or unmodified) in the structure browser.
2. Right-click the selected objects and in the context menu, select Windchill Workgroup Manager > Lock.
The object is marked as locked () in the structure browser. The object becomes read-only and is marked as in the General status column in Windchill Workgroup Manager.
*
If you lock an object in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, you cannot change the instance properties of its child objects since child instance data is managed in the content object of the parent object.
If you select multiple objects and try to lock them in the CAD application, only those objects that are checked in to the workspace are locked.
For example, if you select two objects in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, right-click, and select Windchill Workgroup Manager > Lock, the following occurs:
The object, which is checked in, is locked.
The object, which is still checked out, is not locked.
Unlocking Objects in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling
To unlock a workspace object:
1. In the structure browser, select one or more locked objects.
2. Right-click the selected objects and in the context menu, select Windchill Workgroup Manager > Unlock.
In the structure browser, the locked state is removed. In Windchill Workgroup Manager, the object General status for the locked state () is removed.
*
If you unlock a locked object in a Creo Elements/Direct Modeling session using customized tools other than PDM actions, the modifications done are not saved to Windchill.
