Exporting Objects with Current Security Label Values
Rather than manually creating an input file for the UpdateSecurityLabels command line utility, you can export attributes for objects that you want to update, including the object identifier and current security label settings. Then, you can update the current values and use the exported file as the input file when running the utility. For more information about the input file, see UpdateSecurityLabels Command Line Utility Input File Requirements.
Use the following steps to export object data:
1. Create a custom table view that includes the Object Identifier column and columns for the security labels that you want to update. Custom table views can be created throughout Windchill. For more information, see Customizing Table Views.
Common locations for exporting security label data can include, but are not limited to, the Search Results table, Folder Contents table, or Structure tab on an object information page.
For example, to export part information from the Search Results table, a custom table view was created to include the Object Identifier column and two security label columns: Third Party Proprietary and Export Control. In this example, the object name, number, and state were also included to ease identification.
2. After ensuring that all object data is present in the table or in the structure pane, export the object information using one of the following actions:
From the Search Results table or the Folder Contents table: Actions > Export List to File > Export List to XLS or Actions > Export List to File > Export List to XLSX
From the Reports action set on the Structure tab on an object information page: Export > Export List to XLS or Export > Export List to XLSX
For more information, see Exporting Table Information to a File.
In the example given above, the exported file would appear similar to the following:
*
By default, tables can display a maximum of 2000 rows. You can change the number of rows using the Tables > Size Limit preference, available from the Preference Management utility. Alternatively, if you have a large number of objects to export, you can use the Report Management utility to manage the export process. For more information, see Reporting Overview.
