Creating a New Resource
Resources are created using the Insert New action in the Manufacturing Resource Browser. You can also create a New Resource using the action found in the Actions menu of a product.
To create a manufacturing resource:
1. Select Insert New, or New Part. The New window opens.
2. Select the Type of resource, such as a Plant, Resource Group, or Work Center.
3. Select options from the Context Type, Context Name and Type drop-down lists.
4. Click Next.
5. Fill in the required fields (indicated by an asterisk), such as Name and Category, and any other desired fields.
*
To immediately check out the new resource, select Keep checked out after checkin.
*
For more information on the Category that you can designate for a resource, see Working with Resource Categories. The type of category that you designate for a resource is important if you intend to use the graphical representations available on Work Center Allocation sub-tab of the Structure tab in a process plan. For more information see Viewing and Working with a Plant Layout.
6. Click OK.
