Equivalence Network
For a particular part, the Equivalence Network attribute displays equivalence information between upstream and downstream views and subcontract information between the subcontracting plants.
The equivalence information appears as a path starting from the upstream view to the downstream view, such as, Design - Manufacturing.
The subcontract information appears as a path starting from the subcontractor plant to the subcontracted plant. For example, Plant 1 subcontracts subassemblies 0010 and 0020 to Plant 2 and Plant 3, respectively. In this case, the equivalence network shows two paths: Plant1 – Plant2 and Plant1 – Plant3. However, if Plant 1 subcontracts part 0050 to Plant 2, and then Plant 2 subcontracts this part to Plant 3, the equivalence network shows the path: Plant1 – Plant2 – Plant3.
The Equivalence Network attribute can also display the equivalence information along with the subcontract information as Design – Manufacturing – Plant2 – Plant3. This indicates that after the part moved from the design to the manufacturing view, it was subcontracted to Plant2 and then Plant 3.
*
The Equivalence Network attribute displays the path only until the plant on which you have access. For example, if the equivalence network is Plant1 – Plant2 – Plant3 – Plant4 and the users do not have access to Plant3, the attribute displays the path Plant1 – Plant2.
Clicking a view or plant displays the latest iteration of that part in the selected view or plant.
The Equivalence Network attribute is available in the Attributes tab of the type information page in the Type and Attribute Management utility. You can add the attribute in the required page using the Layouts tab.
*
You can add the Equivalence Network attribute in the part information page or in BOM Transformer. However, it is recommended to add the attribute in the Attributes tab in BOM Transformer. Use the MAPSB Part Attributes layout in the Type and Attribute Management utility. For more information on adding an attribute to a layout, see Editing Attribute Layouts.
You can customize the path that appears in the Equivalence Network attribute to start from a certain view or plant and end at a certain view or plant. For more information, see Configuring Equivalence Network Delegate.
