Design Context Information Page
The design context information page is a collection point for information related to a design context. You access the information page by clicking the information icon
in any table row in
Windchill where a design context is shown. From the information page, you can perform actions on and review object attributes and other related information for the design context.
Edit Definition Tab
The
Edit Definition tab on the design context information page contains actions that enable you to edit the definition of the design context. For further information, see

Structure Pane
Below the toolbar in the Edit Definition tab, the structure of the design context is displayed in a pane on the left side of the page. Checkboxes are provided next to each subcomponent displayed in the structure. These checkboxes are used in conjunction with the other editing tools in the toolbar to refine the design context.
The following table describes the columns that are used in the structure pane.
Column | Description |
File Name | Displays the structure of the design context in a tree format. Selecting (checking) the object checkbox includes it in the design context definition. Clearing (unchecking) the checkbox excludes it from the definition. |
Definition Rep | Displays the current include/exclude rule assigned to the object. |
Resulting Rep | Displays the representation rule that results from the application of all definition rules. |
Tabbed Pane
The pane on the right side of the page provides information about the design context. Depending on your display settings, you can have a layout comprised of either one or two tabbed panes.
The following table describes the information contained in each tab.
Tab | Description |
Attributes | Displays important attribute information about the design context or its member parts. For example, Name, Number, and Version. To view the attributes of a specific part, you select it in the structure pane. |
Visualization | Displays graphic images of all parts included in the design context having published geometry generated from CAD models. Selecting the image of a part expands the design context structure and highlights that part in the part structure pane. Conversely, selecting a part in the part structure pane highlights the same part in the Visualization tab. For details about the tab actions, see Visualization Tab Actions. |
Rules | Contains a list of rules governing the inclusion and exclusion of parts within the design context. These rules run whenever you perform a Refresh Context operation. For example, if a part in the design context structure has been excluded, an “Exclude” rule is created and displayed in the tab. | Excluding a parent also excludes all of its children in the structure. Re-inclusion of a child also re-includes the parent. |

Visualization Tab Actions
When the Visualization tab is selected, the actions described in the following table are available.
Action | Description |
Zoom all | Zoom in on the complete assembly. |
Zoom selected | Zoom in on a selected part. |
Set spin center | Enables you to assign a spin center to the assembly. |
Toggle the automatic selection preference | Enables you to toggle the automatic selection preference to do one or both of the following: • Automatically Select from Structure to Visualization • Automatically Select from Visualization to Structure When both options are selected, clicking on a structure member highlights the member in the visualization and clicking on a member in the visualization pane highlights its row in the structure (expanding the structure if necessary). |
Spatial filter | Opens a menu to set or update box, sphere, or (where a component is selected) proximity type of spatial filter. | Use of filters actually trims the structure tree (removes components). Use of rules can exclude components from membership in the design context, but the excluded components remain in the structure tree (in an unselected state). |

Spatial Rule | Opens a menu allowing you to set or update a box, sphere, or (where a component is selected) proximity spatial rule. For more information about using spatial rules, see the following topics. |
