Editing an Adapter
This section provides information on how to modify existing IBM Rational ClearCase adapters at the site and organization levels.
1. From Site > Utilities or Organizations > Utilities select Adapters Administration in the System Administration section of the page to open the Adapter Administration window.
2. From the Adapter Definition table, select the adapter you want to modify and click Edit. The Adapter Definition window opens displaying the predefined Adapter Type, Adapter Name, and Set Adapter Attributes.

The adapter type and adapter name cannot be modified.
3. Update any of the following Set Adapter Attributes as shown in the table.

No field can be left "blank” except for the Display Name field.

Description
Display Name
The descriptive and unique name to identify the adapter that is easily understood by users. The adapter display name can have special characters and spaces. This field is optional.

When creating multiple adapters, do not use identical display names for adapters. This results in not being able to differentiate between multiple display names in the system.
Adapter View Host
The host name of the computer where the adapter is installed.
Adapter Port Number
The port number of the adapter. The port number has to be an integer in the 1024–65535 range.

Do not use port numbers that are reserved from other applications.
Adapter View Base Path
The path of the view base on the adapter machine.
* 
The adapter view base path must be created on the same machine as the adapter machine.
Adapter Viewstore Path
The path to the viewstore directory on the adapter machine. On Windows, this can also be the share name for the directory. On Windows, it is mandatory to share the “viewstore” directory and specify it here

The adapter viewstore path must be created on the same machine as the adapter machine.
Adapter View Pool Size
The number of internal views used by this adapter. The adapter view pool size must be a positive integer.
Compressed File Format
The type of file (.ZIP or .JAR) that is created when an adapter primary source or attachment content is uploaded.
Adapter Temporary Files Directory
The location on the adapter machine used for the temporary adapter files.
4. When finished, select one of the following options:

OK
Select OK for the system to update and save the adapter modifications. When completed, the system returns you to the Adapter Administration window.
Cancel
Click Cancel to revoke changes made to the adapter.
A system generated message box states the following. “Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page? Aborting the process of modifying the Adapter results in loss of unsaved data. Press OK to continue, or Cancel to stay on the current page.”
Perform the appropriate action:
To save modifications to the adapter, click Cancel, and then click OK in the Adapter Definition window. When updates are completed, the system returns you to the Adapter Administration window.
Or,
To revoke modifications to the adapter, click OK. The system returns you to the Adapter Administration window.
5. If you updated any of the adapter attributes, restart the Windchill server.

You must restart the Windchill server after updating any of the adapter attributes.
