Setting Part Configuration Specifications

Setting Part configuration specifications only applies to Windchill PDMLink or Windchill ProjectLink.
Access the Edit Workspace Options for workspace page by selecting Edit Preferences from the workspace actions menu or by clicking the edit preferences icon for the workspace in the My Workspaces table. Then select the Part Configuration Specification tab.

The available fields and values are those administered through the System domain of the context.
Use the Part Configuration Specification tab to set one of the following types of configuration specifications for part objects in your workspace:
Standard
Baseline
Baseline for Item
Effectivity

You can enter only one type of configuration specification for a part.
1. Set one of the following configurations:
To set:
Do this:
Standard
a. Select Standard for the system to retrieve the latest iteration on the latest version for the specified state.
b. In the View field, select an available view.
c. In the State field, select an available life cycle state. You can leave the field blank to get the latest iteration on the latest version for any life cycle state.
Baseline
a. Select Baseline.
b. In the Number field, enter a managed baseline number
or
Browse for an object in Windchill by clicking Browse.

Clicking Browse brings up a Find Object window, from which you can search for objects.
Baseline for Item
a. Select Baseline for Item .
b. In the Item Number field, enter either a part number or a CAD document number
or
Browse for an object in Windchill by clicking Browse.

Clicking Browse brings up a Find Object window from which you can search for objects.
c. In the Number field, select a value from the list.
Effectivity
a. Select Effectivity.
b. Select a view from the View menu, which includes all the available view names at your site.
c. Enter a date in the Effective Date field in the format indicated.
d. Enter a valid value in the Effectivity Context field

Browse for an object in Windchill by clicking Browse.

Clicking Browse brings up a Find Object window from which you can search for objects.
e. Enter a value for the identifier of the effective unit in the Value field.
2. Select Identical for Documents to assign the part configuration values to the CAD document configuration specification.

This feature is not available when you select part Effectivity.
3. Click OK to save your settings and return to your active workspace.
