Replacing Incomplete Objects

Incomplete objects are only applicable to Windchill PDMLink or Windchill ProjectLink.

The Replace action allows you to resolve an incomplete dependency by replacing a missing object with an object from the Windchill database. The action is only available from the information page of an incomplete object. For more information about incomplete objects, see Incomplete Objects.
To replace an incomplete object:
1. From the information page of an incomplete object, select Replace from the actions menu.
The Replace page appears. Clicking View Details returns you to the information page of the incomplete object.
2. Specify where to find a replacement CAD document, either from the active workspace (enter the replacement object’s file name), or by using the Find action to search for a commonspace CAD document to replace the incomplete object.
Once selected, the new CAD document name appears in the File Name field.
3. Click OK.
The incomplete object is replaced with the selected CAD document. All the parents of the incomplete object in the workspace are updated to reflect the selected object, and the incomplete object should be removed manually from the workspace.

If the parents are open in a CAD session, you are prompted to replace the objects in the session. To persist the changes after replacing the incomplete object, upload the CAD documents.
