Creating a Change Request
You can create a change request in the following ways:
• Select > from the actions menu on the information pages of objects that can be changed, such as parts and documents.
• Select > from the actions menu on the information pages of problem reports
• Select > from the toolbar or row action menu of the
Folder Contents table, available from
Products or
Libraries • Select > from the row action menu of the
Folder Contents table, available from
Projects.
• Click the new change request icon
in the toolbar of the
Folder Contents table, available from
Products or
Libraries • Select New Change Request from the toolbar of the Change Requests table.
The New Change Request window divides the creation of a change request into the following steps:

1. Set Attributes—Identifies change request attributes that determine its identity and control its behavior. A check box, controlled by a preference, may allow you to propagate information from the problem report.
| The Complexity list displays the default value set in the Type and Attribute Management utility. If the value is not set in the utility, the default value specified in the Complexityrb.rbinfo file is displayed. |
2. Select Affected End Items—Identifies the end items that are affected by the change request. If the selected object is a part that is an end item, the part is automatically listed in the Affected End Items table. Also, if the change request is created without selecting any objects, the end item of the product is assumed to be a default affected end item and will be automatically included in the Affected End Items table.
3. Select Affected Objects—Identifies local and remote changeable objects that are affected by the change request.
4. Set Attachments—Manages associated file attachments. Files in the context of the change request can be added, updated, deleted, or viewed.
5. Select Associations—Identifies associated process and reference objects.
| • Steps do not necessarily need to be completed in the order in which they are listed. You may navigate to any step for which the link is enabled. • A message displays asking if you want to Submit Now or Submit Later. You might want to consider submitting later if there is a chance that you might want to modify the change request before submitting it into the workflow process. |
