Service Product Hierarchy Information Page
The information page for a service product hierarchy provides tools for managing the collection of information associated with a service product hierarchy structure. You can navigate to the information pages using the following ways:
Right-click a service product hierarchy node in the Folders page and select View Information. The information page opens.
Click View Information of a Product Hierarchy node in the Folders page to open the information page.
For more information, see Windchill Service Parts Information Page.
The tabs that are available on the information page can be customized to display the information that is most useful to you. For more information, see Windchill Service Parts Information Page.
Actions Menu
Information pages contain a list of menu actions available from the upper left area of the page. The list of action displayed varies based on the modules installed in your system. See Actions Common Among Objects for a list of actions available in Windchill.
Action
Description
View Information
Opens the information page of the selected object.
Check In
Checks in the selected object. This action is available only if you have permission to update the structure, and it is currently checked out. For more information, see Checking In an Object.
Check Out
Checks out the selected object. This action is available only if you have permission to update the structure, and it is currently checked in.
When an object is checked out, this action is disabled and the Check In and Undo Checkout actions are enabled.
For more information on the check out action, see Checking Out an Object.
Check Out and Edit
Checks out the selected object and opens the Edit Service Product Hierarchy window. This action is available only if the service product hierarchy is currently checked in. Using the Edit Service Product Hierarchy window, you can make the changes to the service product hierarchy and check it back in, or alternately save the changes without checking in. For more information on editing service product hierarchy, see Editing a Service Product Hierarchy.
Undo Checkout
Releases the reservation on a checked out object without saving any changes. No new iteration is created.
You can only undo the checkout of an object that you previously checked out.
For more information on the undo checkout action, see Undoing a Checkout.
Edit
Opens an edit window for the service product hierarchy, allowing you to modify certain attributes.
Edit Common Attributes
Opens an edit window for the service product hierarchy, allowing you to modify certain attributes.
Revise
Opens the Revise window, in which you can create a revision of the structure.
For more information on using this window, see Revising an Object.
Use the buttons in the window to collect any objects that are related to the structure and include them in the Revise action.
New
The following actions are available in the drop-down menu:
New Change Notice — Displays the New Change Notice window, allowing you to create a change notice for the selected service product hierarchy.
For information, see About Change Notices.
New Change Request — Displays the New Change Request window, allowing you to create a change request for the selected service product hierarchy.
For information, see Creating a Change Request.
New Problem Report — Displays the New Problem Report window, allowing you to create a problem report for the selected service product hierarchy.
For information, see Creating a Problem Report.
New Defect — Opens the New Defect window, allowing you to create a defect for the selected service product hierarchy. For more information, see Creating a Defect.
New Variance — Opens the New Variance window, allowing you to create a deviation or waiver for the selected service product hierarchy.
A deviation is a request to depart from design specifications for parts not yet produced. A waiver is a request to accept produced parts that do not conform to design specifications.
For more information, see Creating a Variance.
New Promotion Request — Opens the New Promotion Request window, allowing you to create a promotion request for the selected service product hierarchy.
A promotion request is a formal request to change the state of an object.
For more information, see Create a Promotion Request.
New Review — Opens the New Review window, allowing you to validate a process or product. For more information, see About Design Reviews.
New Part Configuration — Opens the New Part Configuration window, allowing you to create a new part configuration from the service product hierarchy.
The configuration specification used for the part configuration depends on whether you have viewed the structure table in the part information page. If you have never viewed the Structure table for the part, the latest configuration specification is used; otherwise, the configuration specification set when you last viewed the structure table is used.
For more information, see Creating a New Part Configuration.
New View Version — Opens the New View Version window, allowing you to capture a version of a service product hierarchy with a specific view.
For more information, see Creating New View Version.
This action is available only for a service product hierarchy that is checked in.
New One Off Version — Opens the New One Off Version window, allowing you to create a service product hierarchy version that reflects a part modification However, this version is not included in the main version sequence.
New Configuration Context — Opens the New Configuration Context window, allowing you to create a new configuration context from a service product hierarchy.
A configuration context is a filtered selection of parts within a product’s part structure. It enables you to work on subassemblies and components of a known product configuration that are relevant to a specific design task.
For more information, see Creating a Configuration Context.
Rename
Opens the Rename window, which enables you to rename all versions of a selected object.
*
When auto-numbering is turned off or when it can be overridden, this allows you to renumber the object.
For more information, see Renaming an Object
This action is only available for a checked in object.
Set State
Changes the life cycle state of an object – for example, from In Work to Released. For more information, see Setting the State of an Object.
Export
Compresses the content and metadata of an object into a JAR file to move the information to another site or portal. The JAR file resides on your local file system prior to being moved. For more information, see About Export and Import.
Export Importable Spreadsheet
Opens the Export Importable Spreadsheet window, which enables you to export data of a selected object to Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. For more information, About Exporting Data to Excel.
Delete
Opens the Delete window, which enables you to delete an object and its iterations and revisions.
For more information, see Deleting an Object.
This action is only available for a checked in object.
Reassign Life Cycles
Reassigns a life cycle template or sets the initial life cycle state for an object. For more information, see Reassigning Life Cycles.
Reassign View
Opens the Reassign View window that allows you to assign the service product hierarchy to a different view.
*
The Reassign View action cannot be performed on a part having versions in different views as it would result in a loss of part information.
Add to
Provides a submenu for the following actions:
Add to Baseline — Opens the Add to Baseline window, enabling you to add the most recent version of an object to a baseline. You can add one or more selected objects plus collected objects to an existing baseline or a new baseline you create. For more information, see Adding Objects to a Baseline.
