S1000D Object Initialization Rules (OIR) Administration
Object Initialization Rules (OIR) can be used to set the initial value of an object’s attributes when it is created, and specify how an object’s attributes are displayed in the UI when it is created. For example, you can change the folder.id initialization rule for an object such as a Content Holder, to change the location in Windchill where it is stored.
For more information, see About Object Initialization Rules.
PTC provides best practices and examples to help with common changes made to OIRs in a customized production environment. The examples and recommendations in this chapter refer to a Windchill Service Information Manager — S1000D Module environment and data. They should be read in conjunction with information about OIRs from parent environments Windchill and Windchill Service Information Manager as all three can have an effect on the objects being created with the Windchill Service Information Manager — S1000D Module.
For general information about OIRs, see Object Initialization Rules Overview.
For information about OIR hierarchies and inheritance from parent environments, see How Object Initialization Rules Work.
For information about OIRs in Windchill Service Information Manager, see Service Object Initialization.
This section covers two areas — how to customize OIRs and the options for customizing the available OIRs in an S1000D environment.
