Installing Windchill Solutions

This section describes how to use the PTC Solution Installer to install Windchill solutions.

If you have installed Pro/INTRALINK, installing Windchill PDMLink serves to move up your installation to Windchill PDMLink. If you have customized or otherwise modified yourPro/INTRALINK installation, consult the chapter "Managing Customizations" in the Windchill Customization Guide before installing Windchill PDMLink.

Verify that you have done the following before continuing with the installation process:

• Installed the database software using the instructions in either Installing Oracle or Installing SQL Server

• Completed any necessary steps in the chapter Before Using the PTC Solution Installer

To upgrade Pro/INTRALINK to Windchill PDMLink use the following procedure:

1. Launch the PTC Solution Installer.

2. Click Update Existing Installation and click Next.

3. Select the Pro/INTRALINK installation and click Next.

4. Select Move to Windchill PDMLink and click Next.

5. From a Windchill shell execute the following command:

windchill wt.load.WindchillLoader -Application=Windchill.PDMLink -Locale=<locale>

Any customizations done to existing life cycle templates, object initialization rules, or file based series may be overwritten when this command is run. However, loading life cycle templates and file based series can be skipped. Customized object initialization rules can be saved before running the command, and then uploaded after.

6. Complete the regular installation procedure.

Before attempting to access any part of the Windchill system ensure that all installation procedures have been completed.
