Installing Windchill and the Installation Process Flow
Installing Windchill can be thought of as a three-step process;
1. The procedures and configurations you must make before installing your Windchill solution.
2. The installation of your Windchill solution and optional products using the PTC Solution Installer (PSI).
3. The advanced configurations and settings you need to configure Windchill for your site.
A typical installation process flow would involve the following:
Careful and detailed pre-installation planning, as detailed in Planning a Solution Installation. In this section you will find information on which installation process you should be using, deployment and prerequisite checklists, and any pre-installation considerations or configurations you must make before installing any optional products. Use this section to confirm that you have everything you need to begin the installation process.
Database installation and configuration, as detailed in Database Installation. In this section you will find information on how to configure either an existing Oracle Applications or SQL Server database for use with Windchill. You may skip this section if you intend to let the PSI create a database for you.
Installation of your product and any additional modules using the PSI, as described in Using the PTC Solution Installer. This section describes the fields and entries you will need to make while installing your solutions and products. Certain optional products may contain additional configurations or settings that need to be applied, and these too are detailed here.
Completing the basic installation process and using Windchill, as described in Final Steps and Launching Windchill.
Any advanced configurations that are required for your site. For more information see Advanced Configurations.
