Editing Object Attributes
User-defined attributes, referred to in some authoring applications as parameters or properties, can be edited on one or more objects in the workspace. You can also edit attributes from an object's information page. For more information, see Editing Attributes from the Information Page.

The editing of attributes for dynamic document iterations is not supported.

Editing Attributes from the Workspace
Use the following procedure to edit attributes for multiple objects in the workspace. Such attributes could be target locations for new CAD documents and parts as well as attributes assigned to a CAD document iteration.
1. Browse to a workspace.
2. Select one or more checked-out CAD documents or parts to modify.
3. Select > .
The Edit Attributes page opens, displaying your selected objects in the Object List table.

4. You can collect, remove, include, or exclude related objects using the advanced mode of the collection user interface. The basic collection mode is not available for this action. For more information, see
Collecting in Advanced Mode.
5. Select a non-checked-out object and click the checkout icon
to perform a checkout and enable modification of the object's attributes.
6. Select a cell that currently shows as empty and, if it is active, enter a new value.

Select one or more object rows and click the edit attribute value icon
to launch the
Edit Attribute Value window. In the window you can set values for multiple attributes on multiple objects. See
Setting Attribute Values.
| If you cannot see the attribute you want to edit, add a column to the Object List table that displays the attribute. You can use the Customize option in the Pick a View drop-down menu. |
7. Enter a path, or click the set location icon
to set a storage location for an object. See
Setting a Location.
| Location can only be set for objects that have never been checked in. |
8. Click OK.
The Edit Attributes window is refreshed. If the Location column is displayed, then the field is updated to show <context_name>.
| If you have entered a location value that is in a context in which you do not have authorization to create CAD documents, then you are returned to the Edit Attributes window. The incorrect values are removed, and you see a warning icon in the Status column. Additionally, the message area displays a message indicating that you are not authorized to check in to the specified context. |
Editing Attributes from the Information Page
From the
Uses subtab of the
Structure tab on the information page of an assembly, you can edit the attributes on the assembly’s uses links. Do this by selecting a checked-out assembly object and clicking the edit uses link icon
.
When the Edit Attributes window appears, use steps 4 through 9 of the preceding procedure to modify the attributes of the object.
Attributes edited through the commonspace view of an object's information page apply to all versions of the object. Editing attributes for all versions of an object is only available via the commonspace view of the information page.
