Defining Alternate Parts
An alternate for a part can replace a part in every product structure, as opposed to a substitute, which can replace a part only in a specific product structure.
To define an alternate part, use the following procedure:
1. Select the part capable of being replaced.
2. Select the Replacements tab.
3. In the
Alternates table, click
.
A search window appears so you can search for the desired part.
Results are displayed.
5. Select the one or more parts to be used as alternates and click OK.
The new alternate parts are added to the Alternates table on the Replacements tab.
