Applying Client-Side Service Packs
Client-side service packs are distributed automatically by the patch distribution utility on the PTC RV&S server. In the event that there is a problem updating a client automatically, you can also apply the service pack manually to the PTC RV&S client.
As of Integrity Lifecycle Manager 12.0, it is not mandatory for a user to have system administrator privileges to update the Integrity Lifecycle Manager client with an available service pack. To install a service pack, you must have Full Control permissions for the client installation folder.

If you are running more than one PTC RV&S client installation on a single machine, in order to prevent the collision of downloaded service packs and HotFixes, you must explicitly set a distinct version of the MKS_IC_INSTANCE_DIR environment variable.

Configuring Download Attempts for the Service Pack Zip File
When the PTC RV&S Client is in the process of downloading the service pack file, and if the connection between the recipient client and the main server is interrupted, the recipient client may have an incompletely downloaded or corrupt service pack file. Such a service pack file when extracted gives an error. Using the IntegrityClient.patch.download.attempts client configuration property, you can enable the client to make further attempts at downloading the service pack file.
The IntegrityClient.patch.download.attempts property specifies the maximum number of attempts the client makes at downloading the service pack zip file from the main server, if an incomplete copy is detected on the client. If the client is not able to deploy the service pack successfully even after multiple attempts, check the network stability. Default value of the property is 10. Setting the property value to 0 disables the retry attempts.
The attempts made by the client are logged in the IntegrityClient.log file under the client installation directory.
