To Apply a PTC RV&S Agent Service Pack
1. Upload the service pack zip file on the machine on which the PTC RV&S Agent is installed.
2. Shut down the server.
3. From a shell on the machine where the server was installed, setup and run the PatchServer utility (setup being setting the MKS_SERVICE_PACK environment variable to point to the service pack zip file).
The service pack is unpacked applied to the server installation. The client service pack and PTC RV&S Agent service pack are placed into the proper directories on the server so they can be automatically downloaded by the client and agent respectively.
4. Start the Server.
The next time that the server establishes a connection to the PTC RV&S Agent it checks to see if there is a new service pack that should be applied, if there is it is pushed to the PTC RV&S Agent system and the PTC RV&S Agent is automatically restarted.
*
When the PTC RV&S Agent is in the process of downloading the service pack file from the main server and if the connection between the agent and the server is interrupted, the agent may have a service pack file which is incomplete or corrupt. Such a service pack file displays an error during extraction. Using the mksagent.patch.download.attempts agent configuration property, you can enable the agent to make further attempts at downloading the service pack file. For more information, see PTC RV&S Agent Configuration Properties. The attempts made by the agent are logged in the agent.log file under the agent installation directory.
For consideration when applying a CPS or HotFix on an agent, see Considerations When Applying the Proxy Server, Client, or Agent CPS or HotFixes.
