Performing Search Operations
The ID and Text options are available for searching by item ID and text, respectively. The ID option is selected by default and you can toggle between the two options. If you enter textual characters in the Search box, the Text option is automatically selected.
*
You cannot use the Search option unless you save changes to an item that is being edited.
When you start typing text the selection shifts from ID to Text.
Search by ID
Select ID, type an item ID in the Search box, and press ENTER. The Item View for the specified item opens in the same browser tab.
For a versioned item, type the ID of a versioned item in the format: Live Item ID-Major Version ID.Minor Version ID. For example, 7201-1.0
Search by Text
Select Text, type the text string you want to search for, and press ENTER. The results matching the search criteria are displayed in a tabular format.
You can enter a maximum of 500 characters in the search box.
*
When you attempt to search using a combination of AND and OR operators, an error message is displayed indicating that this combination is not supported.
For more information on the operators supported for textual search, click provided with the Text option or see the topic Enhancing a Text Search for Items Using Operators.

Clicking Hide Search on the search results page returns to the page from where you initiated the search. The global search icon turns when results are displayed on the Search Results page.
