Exploring a Document to Include or Insert Another Document
The Explore and Add option available the DocStudio view mode, allows you to search an appropriate location in the destination document to insert or include the current document. Using this option, you can insert or include the current document into the destination document at the desired location as follows:
1. Open the document in DocStudio.
2. On the toolbar, click Add to > Another document > Explore and Add. The Explore and Add window opens.

The Explore and Add option is not available if the browser zoom level exceeds 125%.
3. Under Select item by, select Query or ID,
a. Select Query if you do not know the Document ID of the destination document. The Select Item list displays the query results.
b. Select the required document item from the query results.
Alternatively, if you know the Document ID of the destination document:
a. Select ID.
b. Enter the document id in the Enter ID field.

While querying a document to insert or include, the query results display document items of the same document type as the current document. Similarly, while using the ID option, the specified document ID must match the document type of the current document.
4. Click Proceed. The Add to document page opens. The page contains the original document in the left pane and the destination document in the right pane.
You can add more columns to the right pane using the in the column header. Columns belonging to the following data types are available for display:
Shorttext
Rich text (plain text)
IBPL
Picklist

The system may take a while to display the extra columns added to the right pane.
The content displayed in the columns in the Add to document page is limited to 100 characters.
5. Using the drag handle to the left of the current document, drag it from the left pane and drop it at the desired location in the destination document in the right pane You can drop the current document at the following locations in the destination document:
Above the target content item.
Below the target content item.
To the right of the target content item to be added as a subsection.

You cannot drop the current document under other included or inserted document or its child contents.
The left pane is disabled after you drop the current document into the destination document, till the change is saved or applied.
If you have any filters applied in the right pane, you may not see the dropped document. In such cases, to view the placement of the inserted or included document in the destination document you need to clear the filters.
6. The Insert or Include Document dialog box displays.
7. Select Insert or Include and click Proceed. The place where the current document will be included or inserted in the destination document is highlighted. You can undo or redo the include or insert operation using .
8. Click Apply. The current document gets inserted or included into the destination document at the specified location. You are notified once the process is completed. The information message contains the link which lets you navigate to the destination document.
Once you apply the changes, the left pane is enabled again, and you can continue to insert or include the current document at other locations into the same destination document. However, if you are including the document, you can expand only the first instance of the included document in the outline. The other instances are included only as a reference.

If required, you can replace the destination document using . The replace document icon is disabled if any previous insert or include operation has not been saved.
9. Click Save to save the destination document. For more information about operations with included and inserted documents, see Working with Included and Inserted Documents.
