Creating a New Branch
The Branch option is available for the documents enabled for branching. It is not possible to branch content from DocStudio. Additionally, the Branch option is also available if a document is opened in DocStudio As Of some historical date.
Scenario
Branch Option Behavior
Branching is enabled for the document and the content.
The Branch option is visible. It is enabled for the document but not for the content. The Branch option is not visible if the selected content is Included or Inserted document.

To create a new branch:
1. Click the vertical ellipsis and then select Create > Branch. The Create Branch window opens displaying the projects you have access to.
2. Select a project from the list.
If required, sort and filter the data to find the required project. To view the backing item in a new tab, click the item number from the BACKING ITEM column.
3. As per your requirement, select either Branch included documents or Branch inserted documents or both and click Create. A message is displayed indicating that branch is in process.
Click Cancel to stop the process and go back to DocStudio.
A new branch is successfully created and a message is displayed indicating the same. The message also contains a hyperlink, which navigates to the newly created branch. You can also view the new branched document from the Lineage Tab of the Document item. Note that the message is displayed only in the browser tab from which the branching operation was initiated.
