WVS Print Services (Batch Print)
WVS Print Services provides an automated mechanism for batch printing Windchill content that is viewable in Creo View. Print jobs are created using the Batch Print action, resulting in Print Jobs that are then queued and processed by WVS Print Queues using the configured Print Workers. Windchill Visualization Services publishing is covered in the following reference topics:
The WVS Job Monitor allows you to view the status of PRINT Jobs. See WVS Job Monitor for more information.
A printer configuration defines a list of available printers, along with the defaults and constraints for each printer. Using the Visualization Configuration Administration utility, you define valid printer configurations by creating a PrinterConfig.xml file in the Site or Organizations container. For a complete description of a Simple Printer Configuration, see Simple Printer Configuration. For a complete description of a Complex Printer Configuration, see Complex Printer Configuration.
Batch Print includes server-side printing capability, which allows you to print individual jobs and/or queues; a print subscription and notification capability; and the watermarking of objects. There is also a collection mechanism for data to be printed, whereby you can locate all drawings for an EPM structure. Batch print also includes the automated extraction of drawing sizes, so you can print drawings to a desired printer or printer tray (for different sizes and types of paper). You can also control batch print launch points, such as for a representable business object (e.g., WTPart); for a representation (e.g., of a CAD assembly).
In order to use the Batch Print feature, a valid PrinterConfig.xml file, containing printer configuration(s) for your site, must be added to an appropriate Windchill container(s) using the Visualization Configuration Administration utility. Batch Print first looks in the user's Organizations container for a valid PrinterConfig.xml file; if one does not exist there, the application looks in the Site container. The Products and Projects containers do not support Batch Print. Check with your system administrator to ensure that the PrinterConfig.xml file is in place before proceeding. See Printer Configuration for complete printer configuration options and instructions about the PrinterConfig.xml file.
A discussion of Preferences specific to Batch Print can be found in Batch Print Preferences.
