Enabling Set Revision While Creating a New Object
You can enable the revision of a part or document to be set when the part or document is created.

This functionality can be enabled at either the site or organization level.
To enable this functionality, add the Revision attribute to the Create New Layout for the part or document in the Type and Attribute Management utility. Click the edit icon next to Revision in the layout, and set the value of the Data Utility Id property to revisionPicker. The Revision field will now display for all users on the object creation window. For more information on attribute layouts, see Layouts Tab.
To limit the set of users who have the ability to set the revision on a part or document when the object is created:
1. Create a standard profile which includes the Restricted Directory Search attribute on the Set Attribute Visibility step.
2. Set the constraint for the Restricted Directory Search attribute to Hide Attribute in the Global Attributes table.
3. Add all users to the standard profile for which you want to hide the Revision attribute.
4. Create a second standard profile which includes the Restricted Directory Search attribute on the Set Attribute Visibility step.
5. Set the constraint for the Restricted Directory Search attribute to Edit Attribute in the Global Attributes table.
6. Add the users or groups to the Profile Members table for which you want to expose the Revision label.
The Revision field will now display on the object creation window only for the specified set of users. For more information on creating and managing profiles, see Profiles.
