Editing in the Occurrences Tab
The Occurrences tab is an efficient location for editing information about individual usages of a part within an assembly.
Click a row in the table to highlight that row. Table cells enclosed in boxes may be edited.
Use the SHIFT or CTRL keys to highlight multiple rows.
Use the TAB key to move the cursor to the right and down within the editable fields in the table.
Use the SHIFT and TAB keys to move the cursor to the left and up within editable fields in the table.
The arrow keys will move the cursor one cell in the direction of the arrow.
The HOME key goes to the first editable cell and the END key goes to the last editable cell.
The toolbar at the top of the Occurrences tab provides the following actions:
Action Name
Select one or more occurrences within the table and click the remove icon. The system prompts you to confirm your choice.
If the occurrences have been created from CAD integration you are given the opportunity to build the changes back into the CAD documents.
If there is only one occurrence of the part within the parent assembly you are given the opportunity to remove the uses relationship along with the occurrence.
The occurrences are removed from the Occurrences tab and the quantity of the part in the parent assembly is reduced by the number of occurrences removed.
Use the following steps to edit occurrences for an assembly:
1. Navigate to the Structure tab for the assembly and highlight the assembly part.
2. Select the Occurrences tab.
3. Select the occurrence to edit and click the edit icon . The Edit Occurrence window appears.
4. Edit the reference designator, build status, and visual location values per the table below.
5. Click OK to complete the editing operation.
The edit and remove functions are available in the right-click menu for an occurrence selected in the Occurrences tab. You can also use Show Only this Part in the right-click menu to display only the occurrences of a selected part.
Export list to file
Exports the part information displayed in the Occurrences tab to a file on your desktop.
Use the following procedure to export part structure information:
1. Select the part to display in the Occurrences tab in the structure pane on the left.
2. Click the export list to file icon and select a file format from the drop-down menu.
3. You will be prompted to open or save the exported file by your browser. The prompt you receive depends on the browser that you use.
The name of the exported file is derived from part selected in the structure pane.
The following table provides occurrence information that can be edited directly in the Occurrences table:
Reference Designator
An aphanumeric code used to identify individual occurrences of a part used within a part structure.
Edit the reference designator for the occurrence or add a new occurrence by entering the reference designator in the blank row at the bottom of the table. For more information about creating occurrences, see Adding Occurrences.
Build Status
Controls whether the CAD model will be modified to add the occurrence.
Choose the build status from the pull-down list. For more information, see Setting a Build Status.
If an image exists, this table cell contains the location and orientation of the visualization image associated with the occurrence.
Use the following procedure:
1. Click the table cell under the location column for the occurrence location to be edited.
2. Enter the X, Y, and Z coordinate values in the Point fields to position the origin of the occurrence image in space.
3. Enter the angle of rotation around the X, Y, and Z axis in the Angle fields.
The empty part row at the bottom of the table, preceded by the insert existing icon , can be used to insert an existing part.
Type in a partial number or name to locate the desired part. To return broader search results, add an asterisk (*) to the beginning of your search criteria.
The Occurrences table also provides the ability to edit soft attributes defined by your system administrator.
