Multi-Level BOM Roll-up
The Multi-Level BOM Roll-up action is available in the Reports action set located in the Structure tab toolbar on a part information page, enabling you to view the results on a given bill of materials (BOM) for one or more roll-up eligible attributes. The action launches the Multi-Level BOM Roll-up window for a usage structure, as resolved in the part structure browser (PSB), for the initially selected part with the applied or saved filter or variant specification. In the Multi-Level BOM Roll-up window, you can:
View the current filter applied to the part structure.
Calculate and view the roll-up results for one or more selected attributes on a given bill of materials (BOM).
Optionally load and view the structure.
Optionally export and download the fully expanded structure from the list of available file formats.
Upon launching the Multi-Level BOM Roll-up window, by default the Show Structure checkbox is not selected and the BOM table is empty. You can view the BOM structure by selecting the Show Structure checkbox. To load and view the part structure in the table, select the Show Structure checkbox.
*
To cancel loading the structure in the table, you can clear the Show Structure checkbox any time until the structure completes loading.
The table displays the fully expanded structure in the default view. You can select a different view to limit the objects that you want to display in the BOM table. For more information on table views, see the Table and Table View Overview section.
To perform the multi-level BOM roll-up calculations for the desired attributes identified as eligible for the roll-up calculations on a bill of materials:
1. Select the desired part of a qualified version from the part structure in the PSB.
2. Click the Reports list available in the Structure tab toolbar in the part structure browser.
3. Click the Multi-Level BOM Roll-up action from the dropdown menu to display the Multi-Level BOM Roll-up window.
The upper panel of the Multi-Level BOM Roll-up window displays information relevant to the report such as target part that identifies the selected qualified part, context of the target part, authorized user executing the report, and time of execution of the report. The current filter properties are available by clicking the Filter Properties link displayed inline and to the right of the target part value in the upper-right corner of the window.
For more information on viewing filtering properties, see Viewing Current Filter Properties.
4. From the Attribute for Calculation list, select one or more attributes for the roll-up calculations.
*
The Attribute for Calculation attribute is a required attribute, which is denoted with an asterisk (*). If any of the defined attributes is a hidden attribute, it is not displayed in the dropdown list.
5. Click Calculate, which is enabled only when you select at least one attribute.
a. The roll-up result for each selected attribute is displayed along with its unit, if applicable, inline and next to the corresponding value selected for Attribute for Calculation. For more information on BOM roll-up calculations, see Considerations for Multi-Level BOM Roll-up Calculations.
*
Up to nine roll-up results for the selected attributes are displayed at a glance in a grid format between the Attribute for Calculation list and Calculate.
b. When a calculated result includes values where the default unit of the part does not match the unit of the usage quantity, a suspect flag is displayed along with the calculated roll-up value.
c. The Time Of Execution value is set and is displayed in the current UTC date and time format.
d. The BOM table is dynamically extended to include columns for the selected attributes, if not already included, and the calculations.
e. The calculation values as rolled-up throughout the structure are displayed with the Show Structure checkbox selected optionally.
6. To optionally export the “multi-level BOM roll-up” structure, click Actions > Export List to File from the table toolbar and select the desired format from the list of available file formats.
For more information on exporting and downloading the structure to a file, see Exporting Table Information to a File.
*
Loading the structure is optional. You can directly proceed to exporting and downloading the table information after selecting Calculate.
