Attachments Table for Software Files
The Attachments table stores one or more secondary content for a software document, or a software configuration data document.
You can attach, replace, or remove attachment content from various locations throughout Windchill:
Toolbar icons, such as the New Document and New Multiple Documents on various tables.
The New Document, New Multiple Documents, and Edit Document window.
Attach New Software File in the Attachments table toolbar.
Attach New Local File in the Attachments table toolbar.
Attach New URL link in the Attachments table toolbar.
Attach New External Storage in the Attachments table toolbar.
Remove Selected Objects in the Attachments table toolbar.
From the software document, or software configuration data document information page Content tab, Add/edit/remove attachments in the Attachments table toolbar.
Set Attachments
You can manage attachment content for a software document, or a software configuration data document:
Using Add/edit/remove attachments in the Attachments table
or,
From the Set Attachments step of a New Document, New Multiple Documents, or Edit Document window.
You can perform the following actions in the Attachments table or from the Set Attachments step:
Attachment Type
Description
Attach new local file
Use to add attachment content from your local machine to Windchill.
Click Browse to select a file on your local machine. You can also drag and drop one or more files to upload them as attachments:
1. Open a folder browser or resize the Windchill windows so that you can view your desktop. Select the files you want to upload as attachments.

To select multiple files, press CTRL as you select files. To select a contiguous block of files, select the first file and press SHIFT when selecting the last file.
2. Click and drag the files to the Windchill action window and then release. To replace a file, drop the new file directly over the existing file.

Attach New URL link
Use to add a hyperlink, as primary source content, to content stored on a website outside of Windchill.
Attach New External Storage
Use to attach physical objects or places as primary source content.
Attach New Software File
Use to add a software file as primary source content.
Remove Selected Objects
Use to delete primary content.
Once the attachment is in the local workspace, you must include a description in the Attachment Description field for that attachment content before you can save or check it into Windchill.
The following information is contained in the Attachments table for software document and software configuration data document attachments:
Column Heading
Description
Label or File Name
The name of the uploaded document.
Format
The type of content used as the primary source content for the document.
Attachment Description
The descriptive information explaining the document.
Last Modified
The date and time when the primary source content was last checked in or edited for the document.
Modified By
The user who last performed a checkin or edit for the document.
